Saturn is a desktop resin 3D printer from ELEGOO with a good build volume of 192 x 120 x 200 mm. The machine uses a matrix of 54 LEDs and a 4K monochrome screen for masking. It prints as fast as 40 mm per hour and delivers good quality.
ELEGOO is a manufacturer of affordable printers with some of its machines being fan favorite for miniatures, jewelry and dentistry. With a build volume of 192 x 120 x 200 mm Saturn sits among mid-size printers, while these dimensions are versatile and provide a huge room for creativity.
Saturn looks pretty standard design-wise: hardware is located at the bottom, and the printing area itself sits under a see-through plastic cover. Saturn itself is a bigger version of ELEGOO’s popular Mars series.
In order to keep the quality and the larger volume, Saturn has a matrix of 54 LEDs and uses a 4K screen for masking. Like other manufacturers of resin printers, ELEGOO also moved to using monochrome screens that allow better transmission of UV light.
A nice touch is that VAT bath for resin sits on 4 screws that go below the frame. They act as legs when the VAT is removed, which makes it easier to change resin without damaging the film. The VAT also has handles for easier removal – a small but pleasant detail.
Z-axis and the overall structure of Saturn is sturdy despite the machine doesn’t weight all that much.
ELEGOO takes a smart route but not pushing an outdated slicer. Saturn uses loved by many fans Chitubox with lots of useful features and capabilities.
