What I do: I 1st try what's stated above and I finally adapt my design.
Now, you know... Do what I say not what I do.
The OpenSCAD script is fully parametric.
You can make as many "test units" as desired, each of them is L shaped, there's a "Initial thickness" parameter, another for the "thickness increment" between test units...
Adjust parameters to the desired values, compile, print, fine tune/adjust design.
