3D model of aubenc. The models were repaired adn checked for printability.
Few ages ago I was using a piece of paper "quite a 2D thing" to get 3
...Show more dimensional models, so this is a tribute to a couple of my first ever "made things".
It's a quick OpenSCAD that don't take in account some important aspects to make the models easyly printable.
Because I cheat with the dimensions and thickness of the walls and because the OpenSCAD is not making any adjustment, it may be difficult to find out what wall thickness you need.
The models I provide are the ones that bot1334 got to print. However, bot1334 is a cupcake, DC motor extruder, home made hot end... pffff.
There's a zip file conatining a bunch of stl with different sizes for the walls. Hopefully you'll find one that works for you, otherwise...
Do take a look to the OpenSCAD (non OpenSCAD users too), there is more explanations and you can use it to set the walls to something thick: 2mm? 20mm? 50mm?? why not!
For the bird, you'll find it with and without design-support. The support version here, has a gap of 0.50mm between model and support, that's fine for oozing printers like mine.
There are other models ready with other gap parameter vallues in the zip (0.15mm, 0.20mm and 0.25 if I'm not wrong).
One version of the boat has a little more of detail than the other, you choose...
If instead of one thin wall you get 2 thinner walls, choose a model from the zip with thinner walls.
If ReplicatorG complains about "end points I-don't-know-what", choose another model from the zip with thicker walls.
The bird... well it's a bird so it's only thinking in taking off from the build platform, do your best to see that it waits until print completion (I used blue painters tape)
Skeinforge standard did a better job than Skeinforge 35 (normally it's the opposite)
For the curious: Diameter of filament out of bot1334 nozzle is 0.61 mm, all skeinforge parameters set to default for Cupcake HBP profile but: Flowrate set to 215, Feedrate and Travel Feedrate set to 26mm/s, Layer Height set to 0.34. It took 1h03min for the bird and 21min for the boat.
