The three part scanner allows you to recreate the interior non-activated (white) or activated (light blue) more realistically. The scanner top has a sunken spot to attach a rare earth magnet so that you can replicate how it connects into Tricorder rear cradle.
The new scanner fits into the Discovery tricorder rear cradle that has been previously posted on Thingiverse by trekcolencc1701.
